1921 RESTAURANT

So we came here last year (for our wedding anniversary) and loved the restaurant. We were saddened to learn that the restaurant changed hands. Usually that's not a good outcome. However, we were absolutely in love! I have NEVER, EVER given 5 stars to a restaurant. My mom was a chef, not too mention that we have lived for years in different parts of the world. I am SUPER picky and hard to please; especially if it's something that I know I could do a much better job in my house. I will be posting pictures. The first is homemade bread with hummus, shrimp thermidor, filet mignon with asparagus and the creamest mashed potatoes. My husband had the rib eye (forgot the name of his potatoes). They were both cooked to perfection. Now, they don't have a wine menu; but you can go there and choose your own. They didn't have the one cabernet that I drink; but I was able to explore the wines and they have the prices behind them which is a great thing, because they're not pushing a $300 bottle on you, or making you ask for the price on each one. Now, the crème brûllée was the Pièce de resistance!!! I love it, but refrain from getting it, because many restaurants sell it, but they have no clue how it's really done! My only complaint is that it was too small. Normally it'd be a bigger round or oval dish. Will absolutely be coming back when in the area. I found the prices to be super reasonable.

Beautiful restaurant with colonial-era decor… the food was delicious and beautifully presented. The hummus and toasted bread were a thoughtful touch that not many restaurants or owners offer; it was really tasty!

Food tasted great and the portions were good. Not typical American portion sizes where you get enough to feed a whole starving village in Africa for a week. Service was a bit too slow despite there being just myself and my partner and one other table already there when we arrived. They had just two servers on staff which should have been plenty for such a slow service. Hence the 4 stars there. The atmosphere is supposed to be old-school upscale on one side which isn't entirely my thing, but the other side is a speakeasy vibe. Overall a pretty nostalgic throwback to the 20's.
