ONE STAR BECAUSE GOOGLE DOESN'T ALLOW ZERO. I've been renting with SIXT for over 10 years in the United States and Europe. I've rented all kinds of vehicles, and seeing Sixt anywhere in the world meant one thing to me: a premium experience, good cars, and professionalism. Until I arrived at SIXT San Juan, Puerto Rico. What I experienced here was simply unacceptable; it doesn't seem like an international company, but rather a small local business operating under the Sixt logo. They gave us a Hyundai Elantra as a supposed upgrade. The car was dirty, smelled terrible, had clearly underinflated tires, and had alignment and handling problems. During the rental, it felt like the car was literally falling apart: noises, vibrations, and handling that suggested terrible maintenance. It didn't inspire confidence, quality, or, of course, the SIXT spirit. I contacted customer service to resolve the issue and get a different car. The response was cold, arrogant, and focused on charging more, not on solving the problem. Through WhatsApp, all the alternatives involved paying a daily supplement. I explained that I would accept any available vehicle, even asking them to give me a lower-end one, just to resolve the issue. After that, they stopped responding; they were no longer interested in helping me, only in making a profit and increasing the total rental cost. But the worst part came when I returned the car: I personally returned it at 6:23 PM, with a full tank and no new damage. I asked two employees for a document confirming the return and the release of the $100 deposit, which they still haven't refunded. The male employee literally laughed in my face when I asked and said he would do it "right now, just relax," with a cocky and provocative attitude. Then we followed SIXT's instructions and left for the airport on their courtesy shuttle. Later, I received the closing document: Actual return date: 6:23 PM. Return time shown on the document: 9:27 PM. Almost a three-hour difference. And then I discovered something even more serious: Actual mileage: 16,251 miles. Mileage on the SIXT document: 17,212 miles. 961 MILES I DIDN'T DRIVE. I have photographs that prove the actual mileage and the condition of the car at the time of return. SIXT responded that it was an "internal technical issue" and that their internal system has the correct data, but that the document given to the customer cannot be modified once the contract is finalized. So what do we do with the official document that SIXT gives to the customer? And here SIXT should answer a rather uncomfortable question: What happened to that car during those almost three hours? Who had access to it? What do the employees do with the cars after customers return them? Are they being used for transportation, for other purposes, or is someone actually driving them? Who logged those 961 miles? I'm asking because SIXT's own document states that those miles are included in my rental, and SIXT should be able to explain exactly where they came from. They also don't detail in that document the return of the $100 deposit that they shouldn't have charged me, given that I had all the insurance included. This isn't just a bad car. It's a car in poor condition, arrogant customer service, an employee laughing at the customer, a lack of response, hidden charges, and corrupt official documentation. SIXT should be putting a huge spotlight on this branch and seriously question whether this operation meets the brand's standards and whether it deserves to continue offering this service under the SIXT name. Because if you see SIXT in the rest of the world, you can expect a premium experience in every way. But if you're in San Juan: RUN. There are plenty of other rental options. And if not, you're better off taking an Uber. Don't rent from SIXT San Juan. I wouldn't rent from them again even if they offered me a free car. Zero stars. Google only allows one.
