A fantastic experience with the Aventureo PR team tubing down the Tanamá River.
From the very first moment, the professionalism of the team, the organization, and the safety protocols were exceptional, exceeding what's typical for this type of activity. For those of us familiar with these activities, it's clear that behind the laughter and good atmosphere, every movement is perfectly planned to ensure a safe trip.
The meeting point is on the side of PR-625 near the entrance to the old Arecibo radio telescope (they send you the exact location). From there, you follow the team in your own car and, in about ten minutes, you arrive at their base: a cabin with restrooms, showers, Wi-Fi, and they can even lend you sneakers if you haven't brought appropriate footwear. They recommend hiking boots or similar shoes that can get wet.
There, they handed out helmets, adjusting them perfectly one by one, and then took us in a 4x4 to the start of a short hike to reach the river and distribute (and adjust) life jackets.
The hike isn't particularly difficult: first, there's a fairly steep climb of about five minutes, followed by a 5-10 minute descent, also with a slight incline, where ropes have been placed to help those less accustomed to it. Keep in mind, however, that on the way back you have to do the same route in reverse. In our case, some of the more tired people were even given a ride on an ATV.
And then comes the best part: the journey along the Tanamá River is breathtaking. You pass through caves, waterfalls, and some truly spectacular sections, while the guides explain details about the area's history, geology, and wildlife. In our case, we were with Manuel and Omar, although more staff joined us along the way.
The first part of the river trip lasts about two hours, though it feels incredibly short. At the end, the inner tubes await you, and the real tubing begins, as you travel back down the river in the opposite direction.
We found the activity to be very well organized, comfortable, and, above all, safe. The guides know the river perfectly, are constantly attentive to the group, and know when to help without detracting from the fun.
We also paid the extra $10 per person for photos, and it was absolutely worth it. One of the guides practically acted as our family's photographer for a good part of the activity, and we came away with some fantastic memories.
A unique experience to discover a different side of Puerto Rico, and an absolutely professional team. Highly recommended.
