Guides very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. It was a nice moonlit paddle through the mangroves. Due to the climate conditions of recent drought the bioluminescence was disappointing. Plus the near full moon and the light pollution from Fajardo made it difficult to see. It is a natural phenomenon and as such is ruled by the conditions.

Excellent kayaking tour of Fajardo's bioluminescent bay by Jose and Joel. Very good guides who explained the different species and ecosystems of the area to us during the tour. Highly recommended.

TRUST the negative reviews horrible experience!! Honestly, I regret booking this tour and wish I had read the negative reviews before paying. I actually read them afterward and still decided to go, and unfortunately, I ended up understanding exactly what those reviews were talking about. The nighttime conditions were extremely dark with almost no visibility, which made everything much more difficult. My husband was kayaking for the first time, and although I had kayaked before, we had trouble coordinating the kayak. Our guide, John Paul (John), was impatient and his instructions were often unclear. When we were drifting away from the group or getting stuck, we’d ask what we were supposed to do and the response was basically, “Just paddle.” He also made comments like, “I see you don’t want to put in effort,” lol even though we were clearly trying. At one point, we got stuck in branches. My husband was hit in the stomach by a branch, I was hit in the face, and John accidentally hit me on the face with his paddle as well. He did apologize which I appreciate but honestly, at that point I didn’t care I just wanted to get back safely. Eventually, John left us and we were tied to another guide’s boat and pulled along. Thankfully, Michael and Joel were calm, patient, and helpful, and they made us feel much safer and helped us get back safely. I also want to mention the lady at the front desk who was extremely kind and even helped us with first aid after the tour. I really appreciated her kindness. There was also a very strong, unpleasant smell in the waiting area. I don’t know where it was coming from, but it was so strong that it was difficult to comfortably breathe while waiting. Overall, this was a very stressful experience and felt more like survival mode than a fun kayak tour. I honestly wish I hadn’t booked it. Please read the negative reviews carefully before booking. I blame myself for not listening to them. Also, there was no light whatsoever under the tarp when he covered us. Maybe few sparkle here and there. I had already read reviews mentioning this and honestly thought it sounded ridiculous, but once we were out there, I understood exactly what they meant. I ended up throwing the tarp off because it made it even harder to see. And respectfully, I don’t need a response from the business. I saw some of the responses to other reviews and felt like the same explanations were repeated, so I’m simply sharing my experience for other customers to consider. Definitely a night to remember. 😭
