Private Chef Tyler

2 stars BECAUSE I got my deposit back that I requested after seeing everyone’s horrible reviews about how he scams. Thankfully that didn’t happen to our party… but the booking process with him was full of red flags. His communication was awesome until he got our deposit. He was urging I book the deposit so quickly because of his full schedule, which is believable based off of his social media. I Venmoed a random account (🚩) and I received my deposit back on another payment app from a random phone number (🚩). Dates on the receipt, invoice, whatever he wanted to call it, were incorrect (🚩). I tried to schedule a meeting with him to set our menu and this is when he got difficult to get ahold of. Finally got him on a meeting - he was 30 minutes late to (🚩). He was completely unprepared and sent us nothing to look at, he mainly talked about how he was ready to party with us (🚩). We requested menu items and images to look at after the meeting, so we could set our menu and still never received them (🚩). He was constantly moving his phone and camera around during the meeting and showed us his dog and told us to say hello (🚩). Don’t get it twisted, we love dogs but not when we’re in the middle of conducting business. Very unprofessional and it appears his priorities are not focused on his business or customer service.

Please beware of selecting Chef Tyler as an option to provide catering services with the expectation of professionalism. Chef Tyler does an excellent job with his content on the social media platform to solicit his passion to create desirable meals and an entertaining experience. However, that is not what he will deliver. Soon after receiving your deposit to book and confirm your requested services he is non responsive. I attempted to contact him via phone, text messages and smoke signals. His response time to my concerns were days. To make a long story short, he was a no show and no call for our event. This impacted our experience on our trip. Please research his forms of payment which could also impact your dispute to get a refund. By the way, never heard from him and he has not refunded the deposit to us for the lack of services. It really comes down to integrity. Be aware!

Our experience with Chef Tyler was extremely disappointing and unfortunately very unprofessional. Our group booked him weeks in advance for a private dinner in Puerto Rico and paid a $480 deposit to secure the date. Communication during the planning process was inconsistent from the beginning. It often took several days to receive responses to texts, calls, or emails, and the explanation was typically that he was “extremely busy.” Despite this, we moved forward expecting the dinner we had planned for weeks. On the day of the scheduled event, Chef Tyler did not show up and there was no clear or timely communication explaining the absence. This left our group scrambling at the last minute to make alternative plans for what was meant to be a special dinner. We have since requested the return of deposit funds, but have not received a response. When hiring a private chef, reliability and communication are critical. Unfortunately, our experience reflected neither.
