The 12th Drum Meeting arrives in Mayagüez!

It will be held on Sunday, March 31, starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Frankie Ruiz Acoustic Shell in Mayagüez.

This edition will be dedicated to Don Iván Dávila, master craftsman of bomb barrels; and Doña Gladys Rivera, cultural manager of Loíza, teacher and one of the first women directors of the Mayombe group, which has represented Puerto Rico internationally.

The Meeting will have eight delegations of 25 or more barrel makers, barrel players and bomba dancers who are formed to represent the cultural practice of their towns or regions. The artistic show consists of each delegation making a presentation of the representative rhythms of their regions or town. In addition, the diaspora will be integrated with the participation of 138 delegates from different cities in the United States, Mexico and Colombia who have already confirmed their participation.

At the end, it closes with the traditional Grand Bomba Toque, in which all the delegations participate. During the activity, there will be a craft market in the Parque de los Próceres Puertorriqueños.
