Ballet Capital Oeste (BCOPR) dresses up to celebrate its tenth anniversary in style, on April 30, at 8:00 pm, at the Rincón Municipal Theater. The night is dedicated to Denisse Eliza, prima ballerina, director and founder of the 21st Century Dance Company (CoDa21) and the School ofDance 21 (ED21).
The representative dance component of the west of the country, Ballet Capital Oeste (BCOPR), will celebrate its first decade of cultural work with a show titled “International Dance Day Gala: 10 Years of Art in Movement.” At this gala, the public will be able to enjoy a repertoire of classical ballet and contemporary dance, composed of pieces praised and acclaimed by lovers and critics of this art.The performance will coincide with the celebration of International Dance Day 2024, proposed by UNESCO in 1982 with the aim of promoting the art of dance worldwide. The official day is April 29, which day corresponds to the birth of the French dancer and choreographer Jean-Georges Noverre, considered one of the most important figures in 18th century dance.The presentation will be a spectacle that will celebrate the beauty of dance and the art of movement. The repertoire will be equally inspiring, including pieces of classical brilliance and contemporary styles that address universal themes. Among the featured pieces in this presentation is “Loucura”, by the choreographer Thelmo Moreira of Portuguese origin, which will be included in the program, as well as the piece titled “Violin” and 4 X Tango, originals by the director of CoDa21, Denisse Eliza, among other.It is worth mentioning that in this celebration we will be accompanied by the Ballet Concert of Puerto Rico, the Siglo 21 Dance Company (CoDa21) and independent professional artists such as Roberto Vega, James Thomas, Sergio Ríos Carla Curet, José Rodríguez, among others.
The trigger for the 10-year artistic and cultural collaboration between the Siglo 21 Dance Company (CoDa21) and Ballet Capital Oeste was the need to create a space to promote the work of local artists, fostering a safe space for creation and collective work, providing thus professional level technical tools, dance photography, sound and social and cultural self-management, which are often difficult to access. Annually we bring resources and alliances that provide value to enhance cultural management in the western area of Puerto Rico.
The presentation will feature, prior to the 8:00 pm performance, a prelude in collaboration with Ballerino and Fotogenia Puerto Rico. This will take place in the lobby area of the Rincón Municipal Theater from 7:00 pm.
Admission is free of cost.
