The Institute of Puerto Rican Culture (ICP) invites you to the Spring Concert by the String Orchestra of the Mayagüez University Campus that will take place on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 7:30 at the Porta Religious Art Museum Coeli in San Germán. Admission is free of cost.
The String Orchestra of the Mayagüez University Campus (OCRUM) is a student musical organization at the university level that fuses classical string instruments, such as the violin, viola, cello and double bass, with sections of plucked string instruments, such as the Puerto Rican four, guitar and bass. In addition, it features the participation of a flute, a minor percussion section and singers. The orchestra is made up of talented university students from various disciplines and backgrounds, united by their passion for music.
variousTheir repertoire covers a wide range of musical styles and genres, ranging from classical music to Puerto Rican and Latin American folk music. From the year 2000 to the present day, the String Orchestra of the Mayagüez University Campus has been masterfully directed by Professor Santos Torres Toro. This continuity in direction has allowed sustained growth and development of the group, consolidating it as one of the most outstanding of its kind.
