Did you know that the first Puerto Rican lawyer was the daughter of a liberta slave?
Did you know that Ruth Fernández was the first black woman to walk through the main entrance of a hotel in Puerto Rico?
Did you know that women have led several revolutionary efforts in the history of Puerto Rico?
Ponce is the municipality with the most spaces dedicated to women in its urban center, and in commemoration of the International Women's Day we will know the life and legacy of great Puerto Rican women who have marked the history of Puerto Rico. In this special tour we will visit the monuments and spaces dedicated to the women who stood out in the arts, music, medicine, politics, education, laws and more. We will highlight the stories of women who do not tell us much in the stories books, but that their legacy is present every day through Ponce and Puerto Rico. We will explore dozens of stories walking and as part of the tour we will visit Casa Rosa Luisa, a historical house in the process of reconstruction that seeks to highlight the history of great women Ponceñas, paying honor to its original owner: Luisa Fajardo Palomino de Salazar. This house designed in 1912 by Alfredo Wiechers will be a special stop, and $ 5 of each participant will be donated to this space that seeks to operate as the first Bed and Breakfast of the urban area of Ponce, focused on the history of women.
*The Tour occurs even under rainy weather*
